Concept

What is a bike ride… in a simplistic sense, it’s the bike, you & the route. Let’s start with the you, which needs water, food & protection. The bike needs to be safe and prepared for the ride. The route should be understood and familiar.

Of course there is much more… but this basic structure bike, rider, route forms the core structure of the Cyclepedia.org wiki.

Work on cyclepedia.org began in June’06. It is by nature, a work in progress. As webmaster for atlbike.org and moderator for the Southern Bicycle League, I found that too often I was providing background for topics and discussion development. Often, this information was for topics being revisited on a seemingly annual or seasonal basis. A wiki provides the the technology to communicate the necessary background and terminology to enhance the discussions and eliminate the need to re-explain the foundations or under-lying issues to these topics.

Responsible individuals are invited to contribute to the content on cyclepedia.org. Please remember the importance I place on the quality and consistent structure of the information presented.
